The Choquequirao Trek Peru will take us on a thrilling 4-day journey through the Andes. We will explore ancient Inca trails and witness breathtaking mountain scenery. The Choquequirao Tour will reveal a hidden city rich in history and legend.
We will reach Choquequirao at 3,103 meters above sea level, an archaeological site near the sacred Padreyoc mountain at 5,771 meters above sea level. We will hike along the Apurimac River canyon, one of the deepest canyons in Peru. We will admire diverse Andean flora and fauna along the route.
The Choquequirao Tour will guide us through the last refuge of the Incas before they fled to the Peruvian coast. We will follow a historic section of the original Inca Trail filled with mystery. Historians once believed this site was the legendary Golden City.
We will camp under the stars and enjoy unforgettable sunrise and sunset views over the mountains. We will experience the Andes like few travelers have, combining adventure and culture. The Choquequirao Trek Peru will challenge our spirit while offering deep connection with nature.
We will depart from our hotel in Cusco at 4:30 AM. by private minibus. We will travel four hours to Capuliyoc viewpoint (2,885 meters above sea level). Here we will rest for forty minutes and prepare for the trek with our mountain team.
We will start descending three hours to Chikiska while admiring views of the Apurimac Canyon. Then, we will stop for lunch prepared by our mountain chef using fresh local ingredients. In the afternoon, we will climb two hours to lower Santa Rosa Camp (1,914 meters above sea level). The late afternoon climb will be cooler, perfect for acclimatizing.

Route: Cusco – Capuliyoc – Chikiska – Santa Rosa Baja
Difficulty: Moderate
We will wake up early and start a challenging three-hour uphill trek to Marampata (2,911 meters above sea level). Along the way, we will see sugarcane farms producing Cañazo, a local traditional beverage. We will rest and refresh at Marampata before continuing.
Next, we will hike two more hours to Choquequirao (3,103 meters above sea level), the last refuge of the Incas. We will explore the vast archaeological site for at least three hours, visiting terraces, temples, and plazas. Our chef will prepare a special lunch inside the citadel, allowing us to enjoy the same surroundings as the Incas. We will return to Marampata for camp, resting in cloud forest with spectacular views.

Route: Santa Rosa Baja – Marampata – Choquequirao – Marampata
Difficulty: Challenging
We will wake with a cup of coca tea while enjoying sunrise at Marampata camp. And descend three hours along zigzag trails to Rosalina Beach (1,500 meters above sea level). We will feel the effort of the descent but will admire the spectacular canyon views.
Afterward, we will ascend one hour to Chikiska for lunch prepared by our mountain chef. We will rest during a short siesta before continuing two more hours to Coca Masana camp (1,914 meters above sea level ). We will enjoy our last night on the trail surrounded by stunning cloud forest landscapes.
Day 3 statistics:

Highest altitude: Marampata 2,911 meters above sea level
Lowest altitude: Rosalina Beach 1,500 meters above sea level
Route: Marampata – Rosalina Beach – Chikiska – Coca Masana
Difficulty: Moderate
We will start the day with a wake-up tea and breakfast at the camp. And start to hike two hours uphill to Capuliyoc (2,885 meters above sea level), returning to the trailhead. Private transport will take us back to Cusco city.
Optionally, we will stop for thirty minutes to visit the Inca site of Sayhuite, a beautiful carved model. We will continue four more hours to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 PM., completing our Choquequirao Trek Peru adventure.

The trek is considered challenging due to steep ascents and descents, as well as long hiking days. Good physical condition and prior trekking experience are highly recommended.
The best time to hike is from March to January, when the weather is dry and clear. The trek does not operate in February because of heavy rain and route maintenance.
No. Our horsemen and mules will carry your personal belongings and camping equipment (up to 7 kg per person). You only need to carry a small daypack with essentials like water, snacks, and sunscreen.
There’s no strict age limit, but participants should be physically fit and able to handle demanding terrain and altitude. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult.

Altitude can affect anyone. We recommend arriving in Cusco at least two days before the trek to acclimatize. Our guides carry oxygen and a first aid kit for emergencies.
