Discover the jewel of the Andes. Humantay Lake is one of the most visited natural wonders in the Cusco region. This day starts with the pick up from your hotel at 4.00 a.m. in Cusco. We head to Mollepata (Cusco – Mollepata time approximately 2 hours by transport). Place where we will taste an exquisite breakfast prepared by the locals with natural foods.
After breakfast we continue for a period of 45 minutes to reach Soraypampa (3,900 masl / 12,798 ft). Where when you get off the transportation unit, you will be able to observe mountains with beautiful glaciers, one of them the majestic Salkantay Mountain. Place where our guide will also be providing information before starting the hike to Humantay Lake.
Before starting the hike you can rent a walking pols or have already rented it with Guiding Cusco, as the road where you will go is rocky and rugged, also the locals rent emergency horses if you want to go on one of these and fill you with more energy. After the hike and having arrived to the beautiful Humantay Lagoon we will take a rest, we will settle in an egocentric place and at the same time we will listen to our guide giving us information about the origin of this turquoise lagoon formed under the slopes of the mountain of the same name.
Humantay Lagoon (4,200 masl / 13,775 ft). You will have time to look around and contemplate the impressive scenery of the surrounding mountains. Take it easy if you wish; spend some time contemplating the impressive mountain peaks, local vegetation and native fauna.
After enjoying the Humantay Lake, we will begin to descend for 1 hour and 30 minutes to the beginning of the trail (Soraypampa), where our transportation will be waiting to take us to the lunch place (mollepata). special buffet prepared with fresh local products. After lunch, we will start the 2 hours return to Cusco, in the same mini van returning to your hotels at approximately 6.00 pm.

Private Transportation.
Yes, horses are available for rent at the trailhead (Soraypampa). They are managed by the local community. The horse can take you up most of the way, but you will still need to walk the final steep section (approx. 20-30 minutes) to reach the lake shore.
The best season is during the Dry Season (May to September), offering blue skies and clear views of the glacier. During the Rainy Season (November to March), the trail can be muddy, and fog is common, though the landscape is greener.

Warm fleece or sweater.
Waterproof/Windproof jacket.
Hiking boots (sneakers are slippery on this terrain).
Hat, gloves, sunglasses, and high SPF sunscreen.
Yes, the tour includes a wholesome buffet breakfast to give you energy before the hike and a buffet lunch after the descent to recover. Both are served in local restaurants in Mollepata or near the route.
